In partnership with the Sting Soccer Foundation and National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF), Sting Soccer will be Playing for a Purpose as part of their annual Sting in Pink initiative to raise money for Breast Cancer Awareness this October.

Founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor Janelle Hail, NBCF’s mission is to help women now by providing help and inspiring hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services.
“The Sting Soccer Foundation continues to champion women and families facing breast cancer through their annual Sting in Pink fundraiser,” said National Breast Cancer Foundation COO & CFO Rebecca Buell. “Now in its third year, their efforts have already raised over $63,000 while they also work to educate their community and volunteer to pack HOPE Kits. We are grateful to the entire Sting Soccer family for their steadfast support of our mission of Helping Women Now®.”
Over the past two seasons, the Sting community has packed and delivered over 1,200 HOPE Kits—care packages filled with comforting items like fuzzy socks, relaxing teas, journals, and encouraging notes sent to women in treatment for breast cancer.
“Our goal was to give Sting Soccer a hands-on way to champion Breast Cancer Awareness and help our athletes understand their impact,” said Sting Soccer Foundation President Alexa Sultzbaugh. “When they pack HOPE Kits each year, our players and parents see exactly where their efforts and donations go and connect more deeply to the cause.”

Founded in 2007, the Sting Soccer Foundation goes beyond sport by serving the community. Sting requires each athlete to commit at least 10 hours to community service annually, leading to more than 30,000 hours of service throughout the year in addition to fundraising. The foundation has also benefited local homeless shelters, children’s hospitals, veteran and military alliances, and animal rescues.
