How it all began

Una mirada en profundidad a los inicios, la historia y la filosofía de nuestro club. Al ser el primer club de fútbol femenino de la historia y basarse en un espíritu de dedicación, trabajo duro y orgullo, el nombre Sting representa lo que más valoramos de este deporte. 

1973 - 1980

The Beginning of a Legacy

1973
Bill Kinder established Sting as the first all-girls soccer club in the U.S., bringing a new level of professionalism to Women’s soccer.
1978
Sting was the only American team invited to compete in the Women's World Invitational tournament in Taiwan, where they finished 2nd.
1980
Sting wins the first-ever U.S. Girls’ Youth National Championship

1981 - 1991

Champions and Trailblazers

1982
After winning a second National Championship, Sting represented the U.S. as the first Women’s National Team and won the first major international title by an American soccer team.
1985
Sting won the Norway Cup, the largest youth soccer tournament in the world at the time. Sting also continued to dominate youth soccer in the U.S.—winning national titles in 1985, 1987, and 1988.
1991
Sting players Carla Werden Overbeck and Tracey Bates-Leone represent the U.S. Women’s National Team at the first FIFA Women’s World Cup.

1992 - 2006

Growth, Travel and Tradition

Sting continues to set the standard in player development and international travel, with teams visiting China, Europe, and the Soviet Union, experiencing different cultures while representing American soccer abroad and fulfilling the club’s mission of education through sport.

2007 - 2014

A new era: Titans join the legacy

2007
Titans Futbol Club is founded as Sting’s brother club, sharing staff, leadership, and a commitment to player-centered development. 

2015 - PRESENT

United as One

2015
Titans and Sting unite under one banner — The Sting Soccer Club — becoming a single, unified program for both girls and boys. The club continues to honor its founding values: respect, discipline, and hard work, and expands beyond the Lone Star State.

Sting in Pink Initiative

Annual fundraiser held every October that has helped raise almost $100,000 for National Breast Cancer Foundation over the past three years, including almost $35,000 in 2025.

Financial Aid

Each soccer season, we open a formal application process for families seeking financial assistance. The amount of financial aid available each season is directly tied to the success of the Foundation’s fundraising efforts.

HundredX Campaign

Provides Sting teams the opportunity to fundraise money by simply filling out surveys and providing quality feedback. In Fall 2025, teams raised approximately $100,000 across all divisional campaigns.

Community Service

Sting Soccer requires each of its players to complete 10 hours of community service each soccer season, reinforcing our commitment to developing well-rounded athletes who understand the importance of giving back.

Raffle (Texas Only)

Players are required to sell a minimum of 10 raffle tickets ($200 total). First $200 raised supports the financial aid fund for that player's division. Additional funds raised can be applied toward the player's dues, and once dues are fully covered, any additional funds may be used for soccer-related expenses such as travel and tournament fees.
